How do you know Kubota knows about this? I'm just asking as this would be a safety recall situation.

Anyway, have you contacted your dealer about a fix? This can be a rather dangerous situation.

Hi Roy, yes I have told the Dealer, he was not aware of the problem and called Kubota, they said that they are aware of it and a fix is on the way. Need to stay on top of this.Owners of B2630,L2800,L3400,check your tractors.

I have 28 hours on an L3400 and I haven't experienced this. Actually, it's been the other way around. While bush hogging or doing loader work where I need to lean to the right side (head along outer line between front and rear tires), the seat flexes enough to cause the underseat switch to trip. It took me awhile to figure out why the engine was cutting off momentarily.

My B2630 will start in gear. It does have a saftey switch so if you try to move it will die.

I should have been more precise. tractor in gear(l/m/h) with out sitting in seat, reach in and turn the key, fires up. according to manual should not kick over. if you were to step on forward/reverse pedal, will move.

The L2800/L3400hst has a clutch pedal that B2630/3030 does not. I would suspect a little different neutral saftey switch system.

My Deere 790 must be in neutral...

When I had my first tractor, a Deere 670, I'd parked it in the garage. I'd had it for maybe a month. I tried to start it....nothing.

So, after my initial panic (thinking of how I could have screwed it up and $$$ for repairs), I moved the shift lever into neutral. That fine little tractor started right up after that.

The 670 is a predecessor to the 790..virtually the same tractor with a smaller engine and tires.

The Deere's require the machine to be in neutral regardless if the clutch is depressed or not.

There has to be a design flaw....

Mine starts with the range shift in any position even if I am off the tractor. If the tractor is in motion and I lift off the seat the tractor will shut off.

If I get off the tractor and lift the seat to use the BH with the range in any position the tractor stays running....

Hi wbfllamas and everybody I'm also a newbie here. And I also have a new B3030 with the same issues. I called the dealer today and told them about being able to start the tractor when in gear while standing on the ground and about the tractor moving when pressing on the pedal. The sevice manager claimed this was the first he'd heard about this problem. He went out and tested other 3030s he had on the lot. They did the same thing. He then called the area rep. who said that there is a typo in the operator's manual where it says that "the engine will not start unless the range gear is in neutral" . The rep said you can start the engine from the ground but there is a saftey feature which will only allow the tractor to travel 2-3 feet befor shutting down if someone were to press on the pedal. WOW! As far as anyone knows, there isn't any fix planned. The responce from my dealer about an unsafe condition was to follow the parking instructions on pg.25 "when parking, be sure to set the parking brake"
In my opinion this a saftey as well as a liability issue for B2630 and B3030 owners. This is my third Kubota ( 7100, L245DT) and probably my last. If autos can have a safety neutral switch whereby you can't start the engine while in gear, why can't Kubota
