B&S 20 hp intek motor repair help

I just opened up the seized engine off my Dad's lawn tractor. The connecting rod was in about 10 pieces.
Does anyone have a link to a service/repair manual?
I am unsure of how to remove the gear that runs off the crankshaft and don't want to break any more parts.

I think what you are looking for is on page 139 of the following manual

Briggs & Stratton 273521 Manuals

The Briggs service manuals are written in terms that the person using it is a engine mechanic so leave out basic disassembly instructions.

There's a lot to know here. You may find the engine not worth repair. Inspect closely. Assuming it has an oil consumption issue or an ill sealed sump. Parts are expensive. If the block checks out, learn what you can from the forum regarding cylinder head issues, governor shaft issues etc.

I got the camshaft out and that is when I found the hole in the block

I am going to shelve the fix of this engine and either either try and locate a used engine to swap in or part out and scrap the rest of the tractor.
This is not my rig so no vested interest in it.

The decision to install a used engine should be based on condition of rest of tractor. Speaking from years of owning and repairing B&S twin cyl engines,you can find lots of complete tractors with very little wear for less than $500. If your dad's tractor has worn steering,deck or lot's of hours on it,grab a nice used tractor and fix it. The key to finding a good one at a bargin price is recconizing symptoms that cause owner to be selling it. If you are qualified to troubleshoot fuel delivery and safety features,those two issues are 80% of what stop's these engines. Sight unseen,I'd wager even odds the thrown rod was caused by fuel going into crankcase.
