B2230 Engine prob at high RPM

Hi Guys My Brother in law has a B2230 2004 and when he runs it at Hi rpm it cuts out and smokes. Also no matter how often and how long he runs it the temputure guage never goes above cold. Is Their anybody out there that has ever had this problem?

Could it be as simple as one of the fuel filters?

I Dont know but I will tell him to check that. He said that when it is cold out it seems to run better than in the summer when it is warm.

ID tell him to change his air filter also.

cold? how cold? gell the fuel or frease some water in the fuel cold?

I would say in the 30's but his fuel seems good he does use additives for gelling not sure if he has ever put fuel antifreeze in the tractor though. But I would not think that is the problem since it runs better when it is cold out. I am leaning towards the fuel filter my self. Or the other idea I had might it be vapor locking some how? But the other strange thing is that according to the temp gauge it never goes above cold. The dealer told him that was normal.

Diesels don't vapor lock. If the fuel filter swap, there are two if its like my BX24, and the air filter swap doesn't fix it then I'd try a good dose of some diesel injector cleaner like the Power Service Diesel Kleen in the silver bottle .....

Sounds like the air filter is clogged.
Have him test it w/ it out but don't run it too long without it.

Ok Guys I just talked to him he said that he has replaced the fuel filters and the air filter but it still does not help. he said he tried it without the air filter and it did run better. So he bought a new air filter and then it went back to its old ways. He also said that when it is warm out it runs better then when its cold out. Cold air seems to be the problem any suggestions???
