Last June, I lost two houses (neither is my home) in the flooding and have since been in a rebuild mode. Since we had about 6' on the main floor, it took stripping them down to the studs and totally rebuilding. Of course the yards are shot also, and there was plenty of debris. With all of the cleanup, I decided to purchase a tractor. I ended up with a 1996 Kubota B2400 Hydro w/FEL, a box blade, and a cab. It has worked very well for everything that I have used it for up until now. To help me with the curve, I have read a ton on TBN, but I still have some questions.

I'd like to have a wider stance in the back. Is there a way to adjust out the wheels, or does a guy need to purchase spacers?

To add a grapple onto the FEL, how does a guy power it and operate it? I see there are two "blanks" below the FEL hydraulic hookups. It would sure be nice with brush.

What angle of sidehill can a guy feel somewhat comfortable with, as long as he has his wits about him? If 15 degrees too much (of course with the loader and 5' boxblade down low)?

When working with the FEL and the box blade, I only run it at about 500 fewer RPMs than what is reccomended for the PTO. The 500 rpms seems to be alot less noisy. I know there can be less power, but is it OK to operate in this manner?

I know that this is not the best time of year to find a used one, but what front mount snowblower works under this model?

Are the any "demons" about this model that one should be aware of? So far I have been very impressed with the performance, although I have not asked it to do anything too over strenuous as of yet.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Jeff

I can't answer all of your questions but as far as widening the rear track, the B2400 has adjustable rear axle/hub arrangement to accomplish this. If you take one of the rear tires off you will see that the hub has a pin and cinch bolt that can be moved in or out on the rear axle in conjuction with the pin holes in axle.
I think a grapple would seriously intrude on the lift capacity of your 2400. The plumbing would only require another power beyond valve inline with your joystick valve.
FEL work seems very comfortable at around 1900rpm on my 2400. It's also much more fuel efficient compared to PTO speed.
You didn't mention if you had the Bi-Speed Turn option. The only problem I've had with mine in 1250hrs is the axle pivot at the BST housing leaking. The only seal here is a $1 o-ring that takes 4 hours on a good day to replace!! Other than that issue, it's been totally reliable and a real workhorse. Enjoy your new tractor.

I'll take a shot at a few answers to your questions. I have a B2410, which is just a newer version of yours. I've had it for five years, its a great machine. First and foremost, sorry to hear about your property damage.

I think you can adjust out the width of your rear tires - I can on mine and have. It does make it more stable.
A grapple is a nice addition but I don't have one. Most run a diverter to the joystick so you only have one handle to use. I would make it easily removable when you install it if you go that route.
I do most of my loader work between 1800 and 2200 RPM, no issues there.
Your sidehill angle depends a lot on your tires, if they are loaded or not, and the width of the rear stance. There is a tilt meter available which might make you feel better when operating.
A front blower is a great set up, but they are pretty spendy. You might find a used one, but they aren't very common. Most use a rear mount (I do), but I wouldn't try to tell you that a front isn't a nice set-up, it is. I just didn't want to spend the money and I also didn't want to lose the loader all winter. Check with your dealer for appropriate model numbers to be safe.
Lastly, I know of no demons with that tractor - its a great machine, enjoy,

One demon I know of is the starter/solenoid problem. It does not always engage and takes several tries until it cranks.

the starter problem is sovled with a john deere part, ironically. search on TBN and you shall find.

i just picked up a NOS blower -- the B2660 -- for mine -- works like a gem -- try craigs list.

how do you like the cab? it's a curtis one, i assume.
