I am about to buy a B2610 and wonder whether it can handle the Woods 7500? I have concluded from a search that the B7800, 2710 and 2910 can handle the 7500 easily and that the larger reach and power are worth the price. However, the 2610 has 18 pto hp vs 20 on the 2710 and 6-7" shorter wheelbase. Can it still handle the 7500?

Would plan to use subframe mount and pto-driven sep pump on either BH.

Any thoughts would be most helpful.

I think what you are asking is if a B7610 would handle that hoe. I think it is to big for the rear of that size chassis. Keep it to a 6' and you will do fine. Kubota has a excellent hoe for that model tractor.

Art: Many thanks for your reply. I don't want to use the Kubota BH because I am convinced that the subframe mount and pto-driven hydraulics is a better system.

At the same time as I posted this thread, I had made some inquiries from several Kubota dealers and have gotten inconsistent responses.

One said the same as you; the 7500 is too big; stick with the 6500. Another told me that he has put lots of 7500s on B2410s (same power and chassis as 7610), that the 7500 works fine on the B2410 and that he doesn't install the 6500 much.

He also pointed out that despite the substantially greater reach and digging depth, the 7500 only weighs 50# more and that the cost is only slightly greater.

I hate to be a pest, or to presume on your patience, but could you tell me why you think that the 6500 would still be better? I realize that with the greater capacity of the 7500, there will be a need for more ballast than just the FEL at times, but are there other considerations that I haven't considered? I really do appreciate the generosity of you and other folks on these forums in sharing your greater knowledge and experience with Newbies like me.

I have a dealer locally that has put several on too. We have been picking up the service work on the rear axles and rear wheel seals that don't seem to be able to keep doing there job. This seems to be happening just over 500 hours on these machines and it has caused aggrivation for them as well as me trying to straighten out the problems caused by a dealer who prefers the larger price magins from shortlines but isn't honest enough to tell the people up front that they should look to the manufacturer of the tractor for guidence. If the manufacturer only builds a loader that has a rating of 500 lbs why put one on because someone says it will lift 750! It probably will till the axle breaks! The extra reach is what kill them not the weight.

Thanks again. I'm quite convinced that your advice is sound and will follow it.

There's a couple of points that should be added here, probably the first being your screen name; are you planning on relaxing while using this backhoe? If not, choosing the high side in specs wouldn't be wise.
Backhoes are all about weight, distance and force. First, does it have to go through a garage door? Which one clears? About the only adjustment for this is tire pressure or chain saw if you miss on this point.
Last I looked, the only difference between 6500 and 7500 was the cylinder size being a half inch larger in diameter on the crowd cylinder. Maybe I missed the reach spec?? This being the case, the tractor will tend to move toward the bucket more when the outriggers can't counteract the crowd (dipper stick) movement.
My knowledge has got to be obsolete since I haven't seen a 2610 yet but am being denied access to the Kubota site with my (computer) configuration at this time. Will try again when at work?? I've watched a 7500 on a 'L' series and it reacts a lot different than my 6500 on my 2400. Specifically, rearranging the tractor is much easier with the small hoe on the small tractor. Bigger machine stays put better. It all boils down to what you need to do. SteveV /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
