Oil & Fuel B2710 Fuel Filter

Today i went to NYS Farm Days and at the Kubota lot I saw the 2710...

Nice Tractor...

Except for one thing... The Fuel Filter hangs down below the frame... Asking to be ripped off...

Have any of you had this happen ?

I have a 2910 and yes, its happened to me. I ran over a small log with the right front tire. The ground was soft and the short log was just the right length to pop up and hit the filter. Had to buy a replacement bowl and filter.

Diesel fuel began to spill out and the only way to stop it was use some vise grips to pinch off the fuel line. Just stopping the motor will not stop the spill.

In all fairness, it was sort of a freak accident but I do wish the filter was better protected.

I have the 2710 but it hasn't happened to me yet. Its up pretty high and really to the right of, and close to the engine. It doesn't strike me as being all that vulnerable.

I was pushing over some overgrown christmas trees and one tree broke (bent, really) about 16 inches off the ground. The tractor rode up on the branches and then down the other side. Almost lost it on that maneuver. After all was said and done, a) I shouldn't have done it and b) the fuel filter was dented in, but still functional and the mounting bracket/in/out black plastic piece was broken from the frame. It all still worked fine, but sagged a bit below the frame. I had no further incidents with it, but ordered a replacement filter from tractorsmart and replaced it eventually. One thing I noticed is that the actual paper filter element cost was MORE than the cost of the entire filter assembly...go figure.

Bush hoggin' last year a mighty stick or bush or evil monster jumped up and knocked the fuel filter loose on my B7500.
I kept smelling diesel fuel then noticed my nearly full tank of fuel was rapidly approaching 1/4 of a tank.
It had just jarred loose. I hasn't happened again.
