B2710 Wont turn over?

Went out to start the tractor last night, and nothing. I put the battery on the charger for awile and still nothing. When I turn the key on, I get lights in the dash and headlights. It is out of gear, clutch is in and the pto's are disengaged. Any ideas? My thoughts are maybe a bad neutral safety switch? Any pointers would be appreciated. It is 2000 Hydro 2710. Thanks!

NOTE: This happened a couple weeks ago. Not sure what I did to get it started, It just finally turned over one of the times while trying it. That time I charged the battery, cleaned the positive post and wiggled all the pto and gear levers? Not sure if any of these had something to do with the outcome or not?

Sounds like a saftey switch is not centered just right.

I had the same problem with my 2000 B2710. We thought it was a problem with a safety switch as well. All the safety switches checked out. My dealer pulled the instrument panel and found the problem. I'm not a 100% sure as it was a couple of years ago, but I think there was a loose wire that didn't let the tractor turn over. Hope this helps. Maybe a place to start!! Good luck.

Let's see if I got the right thread for you.
This might help, BUT, caution -- my solution will allow starting in gear --
there is NO SAFETY switch in the circuit.

Well, got it figured out. I checked all the sensors to be sure they were at least moving properly. They seemed fine. I then took the dash out. Low and behold, it was full of insulation...pink household or pole barn insulation! It seems that is a great place for mice to make a nest and have a wiring harness for dinner. I found about four wires that had been chewed...one was chewed completely through. After repairing that, I found another nest up front near the radiator screen. How quickly these guys work. I had just done the 500 hour maintenance about two weeks ago and can say for sure the nest by the radiator wasn't their. It's interesting the timing though, here in Michigan the last two weeks have been our coldest weather. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. Time to go....I'm looking for a barn cat!
