Oil & Fuel b2910 fuel gage always reads full when on

When I turn the key on my fuel gage goes from empty to full and stays there no matter how much fuel is in the tank any suggestions on where to start looking for the problem?

Typically when the fuel guage reads full all the time,the main power wire to the sending unit is off or broken. I think you can check the guage by taking the wire off the sending unit and ground it. With key on,it should read empty. These are general fuel guage observations. May not apply to yours,but I think so. Good Luck.

based on your help i may have solved it but i dont know as the tank is full and the gage always reads full after you turn the key on. I took the gage cluster off and there was an aluminum heat sink looking thing above the sending unit that looked to be crowding the wire on the sending unit. I loosened the bolt pulled the aluminum pc up and found what I think was the power wire off the terminal. I pushed it on and put everything back only time will tell once the fuel begins to burn off.

? only have 20 hrs on mine and the fuel gauge always reads full......

kubota2234-I would think the same system is generally used on all electric fuel guages. Good Day.

#2 it didnt work I was so excited that I may have solved it and totally bummed when I didnt. I have checked the power lead and there is 5 volts there and I have ohmed out the sending unit and it doesnt seem to change when I move the float from empty to full so I would assume the sending unit is toast.
