B2920 cranks and cranks but won't start after sitting for 6 months

B2920HSD Tractor is in good shape and was used until winter. Parked it in the barn and when I went out to start it, it cranks and cranks but won't turn over. I charged up the battery again, removed the fuel filter and emptied it out, tried starting again to no avail. Removed fuel filter again, emptied it, filled with diesel this time, tried to start again, crank, crank, no turning over.

I don't believe this is a safety switch issue, because my understanding is that the safety switches disable the starter, right? But the starter runs but the engine doesn't turn over.

Plenty of fuel in the tank. Lights all come on, glow plug indicator light comes on, crank crank but no starty. What can I check next, being a software guy and having no real experience with farm machinery?

Take the electric shut off solenoid off the injection pump, to eliminate any safety issues..2 screws on the back of the inj. pump..??
Loosen the fuel inlet line that goes into the inj. pump & spin the engine until you have fuel THERE & NO air..
Loosen the steel lines that go from the inj. pump up to the injectors in the head..
Loosen then AT THE INJECTORS, NOT at the pump..
Spin the engine & SEE if fuel squirts out the lines..
