B2920 TLB turfs and loaded ags
I am definitely getting turfs unloaded for my lawn but I would also like a second set to have the rears loaded for better traction with the box blade and better traction on dirt or a little mud. Anyone have pics of the turf/bar combo set? any thoughts on R4s vs ags?

Here's what I buy. Haven't seen any yard damage and I don't do mud except when I have to. Have never given serious thought to ags.

Are you sure you want another set just for little mud, traction stuff ? Its alot of work to swap back and forth I would think. Currently I am running turfs and I added liquid ballast to rears. It's all I needed really for mud, dirt, snow, ice. If I need to go into deeper mud, it's time to slap chains on or don't do it at all.

Agree with Radioman. Swapping in the summer time would seem a pain.

I absolutely can understand turfs in the summer, and swapping out in fall for snow plowing. Having two sets for that kind of deal is sensible. Don't quite understand swapping within a given season though.

Since we rarely get enough snow here to try and get rid of it I had never considered tires for snow. In the past few weeks I have removed snow twice with my BX2660 with turfs. Needless to say, I was shocked and surprised with their traction. I worked them in rabbit and turtle and they did great in both. Rarely did I engage the locking differential and the times I did is when I backed into or drove across one of the piles I made. I saw on another post that someone seems to have bad feeling about R4's and snow/mud but for me the turfs were unbelieveable in snow. Didn't try my B3200 with R4's so don't know how they would do.

Gonna assume you know what a turf looks like on a Kubota.

Here are Ags (R1) what Kubota calls Bars on BXs.

Also a photo of R4- Industrial tires. Popular compromise tire between turfs and Ags.

I would like an extra set of rears (or all 4) primarily so I can have the advantages of loaded rears sometimes but not have the weight of the loaded tires when my tractor is on my grass. I do have a ZTR so its not on that much. The real question is what should I get in addition to the unloaded turfs? Would loaded ags be good for mud, snow and dirt?

Again, I just find it difficult to imagine changing out loaded tires. They are so heavy. I can see changing in spring and fall, but that would be the limit to my patience with it.

Tires are a source of some contention as to which are best. One thing is very sure. No one tire, be it an Ag, a turf or R4-Ind can be all things at all times.

You cannot have a tire that protects the lawn, and still provides maximum grip in mud or snow.

Ag-R1: most grip
Turf: most gentle on grass and does surprisingly well on certain types of snow.
R4-Ind: compromise tire, although very tough and resistant to puncture.

*My vote goes for AGs.
Going with turfs or R4s on a bx just to save turf damage is futel.
I have Turfs on a BX1500 and AGs on a BX23 TLB and another Bx1500 .
The AGs are no more lawn damaging than the turfs .
I'd get AGs an never look back.

I've got R4's on my 2620 with the rears loaded and haven't had a problem, even with hills and snow/ice this year. As long as I keep the speeds in low range, they don't really spin or lose traction.

They do raise a little **** with the yard when it's wet or soft, but I think any 4000# would do the same (TLB). As long as I keep the steering gentle and not cranked, it doesn't really tear things up.

They do load up in mud however, but I think any tire would in the places I've been or gotten stuck. Dropping the tranny's range down does a world of difference. I hardly even need to lock the rear diff when they start to break lose.
