Has anyone completed the 50hr service on their 3030 yet? I'm tackling mine this weekend. I've read what I could find on similar Kubota models to arm myself, but can't find anything on the B3030.

I'm wondering if there is anything I should be aware of, or any problems you may have encountered. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm just getting ready to do my B3030's 50 hour service this weekend, too! The owner's manual seems to be very informative in this area, but otherwise, I think we're on our own! When I purchased all of the filters at the Kubota dealer where I bought the tractor, they were surprised, as no one else had been in for filters for this model yet! And this is southern California, where Kubota's rule!
By the way, the filter's, excluding the fuel filter, cost $80, is that about what you paid?
I hope all goes well with your service. Let me know how it goes.
I sure love this tractor, I've been workin' it hard.

I haven't picked up the filters and oil yet, so no idea on cost for comparison. I'll let you know next week how it went, it does seem fairly straight forward.

Good luck!

50 hour service was a success - no issues at all. I changed the engine oil and filter. Changed the Hyd/Trans oil and BOTH filters, even jacked-up the front end of the 3030 (from a tip I read) to get as much fluid as I could. Re-torqued the rims as per the manual, cleaned the air filter element, and blew out the readiator screen. Greased the HST peddle and 3pt upper and right side adjustment link.

Either it was easy, or I'm a better mechanic than I thought....

Kubotaone: Did you use the recommended Super UDT for the transmission/hydraulics, or did you use Kubota UDT? The owner's manual "highly recommends" the Super UDT, but in checking with my selling Kubota dealer parts dept, they first told me that the Kubota UDT was the same as the Super UDT, then when I argued with them, the parts mgr. admitted that there was such a product, but they didn't stock it because everyone was using regular Kubota UDT. When I pushed them, they said they could order it, and they're charging me $82 for a 5 gallon pail, plus $8 shipping. Am I missing something? Why would they not recommend a better product based on their mfr's recommendation, and why would they not want to sell a more expensive product to me if that's what I want? It's kind of like the difference between using regular Mobil motor oil and Mobil 1. As far as I'm concerned, the Mobil 1, which I run in everything I have, is well worth the extra cost. So why not use the best trans/hydraulic fluid available? What's your thoughts on this?

Fign1955,

My dealer is a large CASE retailer, they buy their Hydro fluid in bulk and repackage it in various size containers. They use the CASE fluid in everything they sell, including Kubota's. It's called Hy-Trans, they assured me that it meets and exceeds the 3030's requirements. When they prepped my tractor from the crate, that's what they used already. I didn't want to mis-match fluids, plus I thought I'd like to be consistent with what my dealer uses. Did I do the right thing? who knows. They were more than willing to sell me the super UDT if I wanted.

My guess is your dealer just didn't want the inconvenience of placing a special order for you and they hoped you wouldn't know any better - not smart on their part. If you're set on the super UDT, I'd insist on the order.

KubotaOne,

Thanks for the info, I did special order the super UDT and it's supposed to be here early next week. The parts mgr. at my dealer in Escondido, CA acted offended, though, when I told him I wanted it ordered. Maybe Kubota would like to know about this?

Let them know. I emailed them when the local dealer had 2 1/2 gallon jugs for $51.51. I emailed Kubota and within ten days the store owner called and said that there was a pricing error, right, just like all of the other parts that I have purchased, everything was marked up 3-10 per cent over suggested retail.

Dumbdog:

Good idea, I'll send Kubota an e-mail this weekend about the whole situation. I'll let you know what happens! Thanks.

Don't you just love it when they get offended when you the customer ask for a product that is recommend by the manufacturer....Makes you wonder how a lot of small businesses survive. -You'll be happy with the SUDT choice and it's worth the wait.
