I was caught up on mowing last weekend and decided I'd lube all the grease fittings and do a general walk around inspection before attaching the backhoe to take out a stump. I noticed a bolt just above the lower link hinge point (about the 7 o'clock position from the PTO) that seemed to be loose - so loose that it could be simply removed by hand. When I say removed by hand, it doesn't tighten and can just be slid in and out without any tools. I think the lower link is the only thing that kept it from falling out and being lost. If it didn't match then other one above the other lower link I'd think it was the wrong size bolt (next size larger won't fit in). The bolt doesn't appear to have been cross threaded, etc. but I can't tell if the threads in the hole are stripped out or not. Looks like this bolt attaches through the lower ROPS tab, the draw bar receiver, and into the transfer case. I'm thinking that maybe a HeliCoil will have to be installed. My dealer thinks they may have to send someone out to see what's going on then check with Kubota to decide how to handle this (still under warranty). Anyone noticed anything like this or have any ideas?

FL,

Good catch! Many serious problems can be prevented my doing exactly what you did. I'm sure your dealer will make it right.

Helicoils aren't the end of the world. THey will work and be just like new.

FrogLick,
Sorry you have this issue.. Hope they can properly resolve.

I checked my B3030 and didnt detect any loose bolts as yet..

Good reminder for us all not to overlook the hardware..

I wouldn't have any problem with a HeliCoil repair particularly if that can be done on site. In fact I'm the one who suggested it but my dealer's service manager thinks they need to take a look and check with Kubota to see what they'll approve before proceeding. An on site repair would certainly save the expense of having to haul the tractor in to the shop about 65 miles away as well as the time without use of the tractor while it was gone. My dealer has been good to deal with so far even though I'm a small customer. I'm sure they'll take care of things but it may take a little longer than if the equipment was closer.
