B3030 mower lockup stops motor

Hello all. I have a B3030 with a 72" belly mower and my father was using it when the mower gear box froze when something gave. Have not opened the mower gear box yet to see what happened. He said that he was mowing along and heard a bang below then the motor stopped. I disconnected the mower from the mid pto but when I turn the key the starter does not engage. I get the usual click and glow plug lights. In the past I put a bypass for the interlock switch of the seat, pto selector and pto engage. I also checked the fuses and did not see any blown. Any ideas?

Do you have voltage to the starter when you turn the key? Can you turn the crank with a breaker bar with it out of gear? I wonder if the crank is broken or a rod bent and has bound up the engine.

Are you sure the mower is what failed? Did it shear the shear pin?Could be the PTO transmission failed making the mower and tractor stop instantly.
Would explain Why the tractor won't start now.
Like Bubba said, try to turn the crank with a tool to determine if the engine is locked.

Thanks for the answers guys. I will put 12v in the starter and see if it turns the motor. I know the gearbox in the belly mower froze because it is locked tight and wont free spin.

You disengaged the pto lever, right?

Got a chance over the weekend to look at what is going on. It appears that vibration has caused the nut on the hdst interlock to loosen up and when the mower froze the jolt was such it threw the interlock out of the bracket. Pushed interlock plunger and it fired up. Now to fix the mower. Thanks guys.
