So my b3030 isn't working today. At first, it was classic "seat switch" opc - tractor started fine, but turned off whenever I tried to move it. So I took the four wires under the seat, and jumped them...

Now the tractor doesn't even start!

Clearly an operator presence control issue. Anyone have any idea how the harness works so I can start jumping my way through the switches and see which is the problem? As I said, there are 2 pairs under the seat, but jumping either or both of them does nothing.

I assume the best way to identify the problem is to find the OPC and start jumping it until I find which circuit is bad? Then check circuit/replace switch?

Thanks for advice

You didn't really say how you jumped the 4 wires, but the 2 seat switches are independent from each other. The seat tilt switch (at the front edge) is wired in series with the PTO lever safety switch. If you jumped all the wires together, you probably screwed yourself. I would focus on the switch under the seat first.

Btw, a WSM makes a great Christmas gift. :)

Thanks. I jumped both pairs together in pairs - not all 4 together, but 2 pairs of 2. Started with a tractor that would start, but not move forward, now have a tractor that doesn't even start... lights all go on, but no cranking.

I figured if I jumped all the circuits coming into the opc, that it would at least establish whether it was the opc, or one of the switches that was bad. Question is, could I screw something up by jumping everything at once, or should I jump certain pairs while leaving others open?

Try jumping *only* the seat switch and leave the tilt switch the way it was. The tilt switch may very well be N.C., I don't completely trust the symbols in the WSM. The circuit with the tilt switch & PTO lever won't let the tractor start if either is engaged.

Oh, and maybe it's stating the obvious, but likewise make sure you put the seat back down before you try to start it. ;)

I've caused myself some problems I think. I got the wsm (why that acronym?) For the opc. Its not clear which wire pair goes to what, and I trimmed them back to jump them. Could someone look under their seat and post?

Also, the scanned doc is a little blurry. Where is the opc located? Under the steering column?

update - found the opc, it seems to be the gray box to the left of the steering column. Why do you always have to disassemble the whole machine to get to things like this? Note, this is not just kubota's problem, it seems to be all machinery - the idea of independent repair panels does not seem to exist any more. I like engineers, but they all should be forced to repair things they design. I think we'd see fewer cascading disassemblies - I just see no reason why I should have to remove the steering wheel for this repair. Aside from the fact I do...

Do you still need more detail on how this looks? Let me know and I will take a boo tomorrow and get back to you.

Yeah, would love to have a double check on which wire pair goes to which switch under the seat, thanks
