Thats what I thought to. The cable that runs from your joystick to the hydraulic valve is a push pull cable similar to that found on a ten speed bicycle only thicker. The end will pull loose from the wire cable and it seems impossible to repair without replacing it for 130 bucks

You might try repairing it with a swage tool. Although I don't know where to find one you could try a steel cable vendor, marine or aircraft repair facility. It is similar to the process used to swage hydraulic fittings on your tractor. Possibly the tool your dealer uses for Hydraulic line has a small enough die for your cable? You can google (cable swage tool) for some ideas.
