I'm looking to buy my first tractor. I'm going to look at a B6000 with a Woods PTO finishing mower.

I've got around 8 acres of pasture which is pretty steep that I need to keep mowed. Otherwise I will just be doing a little gardening and dragging stuff around the farm.

Will this tractor be good enough? I'd love to get something a little bigger but this is what I can afford (~$3K including mower and some other implements). I'm concerned that this machine won't have the power I need but I read here that it's a pretty stout little beast. I really think I need something 4WD for the terrain I'm in.

The only other machine I have found anywhere near this price range is a Yanmar YM220D which I really liked but it would end up costing me at least a thousand more to get rigged for mowing and it needs new rear tires.

Advise please.

Thanks

Tom

It should be a good choice.:D

One problem I could see is overheating on very hot days???

Just something to think about, the B6000 has a reverse-turning PTO. It will be near impossible to find any other impliment to use with the 6000....... and what will you do if the finish mower needs replacing one day. The reverse operating PTO will be much more expensive to deal with long-term than a set of tires on the Yanmar.
