I know this thread is a little old but perhaps someone will still notice it. I recently acquired a property in S.FL. from an estate. The property came with a B6000E. In discussions with the neighbor, the tractor hasn't run in the 18 years since he's lived there but has no idea why--prior owner never got around to repairing so never discussed the probable cause. If it were a JD, AC or IH from the early 70's, there'd be no question whether to take the time/resources to get it running. However, a ~40 year old Kubota for some reason is leaving me more uncertain.
A 3PH mower is present but in pieces. Given the unique qualities of the PTO on the B6000E, I don't know that I'd be able to find any useable 3PH attachments for the tractor other than maybe a box-blade or roller or something that don't need PTO power. I have a ZTR to mow my grass so I'd probably just use the B6000E for pulling a wagon or possibly some grading (with blade).
The local Kubota dealer says the model is so old, parts will be scarce so they advise against putting much money into repairs. I have a pretty good respect for Kubota's as reliable basic workhorses but am not in a position to "want" to get caught in a money-pit. I'm no diesel mechanic so the repairs will need to be done by someone else. Would any of you throw a few $100 at diagnostics/repairs? Or, do you think better to sell it to someone who might actually get more use out of the rig?
