Been looking at a b6100 hydrostatic 2 wheel drive, turf, tires and mower.

When I raised the deck, it seems like there was a loud gear clicking noise. the seller said I had just raised the lift to the upper end of travel. Is this normal on a b6100?

There is a small handle under the seat with an arrow on one side. Is this the fluid control to adjust the speed of the lift?

Hour meter stopped at 3600 hours best I can tell. Steering rebuilt and tight. Engine a bit on the loud side with smoke on start up. Guages and lights no longer work.

Asking price $1450.

The lever with the arrow may be for another hydraulic source. Chances are the speed of the three point can be adjusted just under the right side of the seat by the control lever.

Raise the mower while looking underneath to see whats hitting.

Disclaimer: Mine is a B7100 HST so it may be different than the one you are looking at.:D

Personally, I'd have to leave it sitting. I look at it like this: US$1450 with noise, smoke (depending on the color of the smoke), and some reservation, it may or may not be a solid machine. For no more than the said price, you're not gaining a whole lot of longevity at 3600 hours. The savings of the $1450 toward another machine outweighs the return of investment on this machine, with all said uncertainties and hours.

Just my US$0.02.

Smoke on start up is normal for every diesel I have...just as long at it clears immediately. The noise can be anything to bad to easy fix in a minute.

It was white smoke on start up.

The seller also had to use the glow plugs for what seemed like 30 seconds for the initial start. I don't even touch my glow plugs during the summer on my Yanmar and in winter, it's only for a few seconds. Plus the yanmar kind of hums compared to the engine rattle on this B6100.

Any more thoughts out there?

Thanks.
