Price Check B6100 Price & Question

I am new to the site, and failed to read the rule about posting questions in the new member section. So this is a repost, sorry.

I have been doing allot of research in my quest for a good used tractor. I have about 1 1/2 acres, but also have to help maintain a small road for 5 neighbors. This would include some grading and shoulder (level) mowing.

I found a Kubota B6100D in the paper the other day. I went to see it. It appears to be well maintained and all the hydraulics work. The owner claims it has a 16 hp 3cyl diesel, but I can not find anything that indicated this model ever had a 16 hp.

It also has a FEL with a new 4' bucket. The FEL was retrofitted from a Yanmar. The fabrication was professionally done, it looks very nice, and works very well, it was even painted to match and had decals paced on the lift. The owner is selling it with a 4' box blade, and a 60" rear discharge finish mower (not Kubota).

The hours are unknown as the meter is broken. I looked all over and could not see any major leaks, or evidence that extensive cleaning or painting was done to hide anything. The unit appears to have been kept under cover. The paint is not faded, there is no rust, and the seat has no tears in it.

The current owner (the 2nd one) added the FEL, and used it to maintain a couple of acres for his mother. He is asking $5900 obo, and is willing to deliver for free.

Any input about this unit, the price, or another recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Is it, in fact, a B6100 or a B7100. If you look at kubota.com/products/prior products the B6100 was 14 hp while the B7100 was 16 hp. The price you quoted would seem high for the tractor, but with the implements, it might not be bad.

I check the model and serial number stamped on the frame. It reads B6100 - 4968. The decals also read B6100, so as I suspected, I believe the seller is incorrect on the quoted HP. Also as I suspected, he may be just a little bit overpriced.

I just checked TractorData.com (no plug) and it states the B6100 has a 14hp, 3 cyl engine with 12 hp at the pto...They were made from 1978-1984...Hope that helps.

I still use the heck out of my Dads 6100 he got in 78. Dad's came with a 4-way blade and not a bucket. These little diesels are a real dependable little work horse. The price might be a bit high, but with the implements and fel its right in there.

Thanks to to those of you that gave your input. I guess it was a pretty good deal after all. According to the seller he got his asking price of $5900.

I will keep looking. I know my good little tractor is somewhere out there.

As a previous B6100D owner I still don't think is was a "deal" by any means. I wouldn't feel to bad about it. My opinion, with the extras listed $5500 would have been my top dollar.

I'll second this. I missed out on a couple of really good deals, only to find a much better deal later. No deal is the last good deal.

There a lot of newer B7100s out there for the same or less money. I suggest to do a wide area search on Craigslist.
