So I am building a weight box for my 3pt hitch to counter act the snowblower.

My concern is that when the hitch is all the way down is seems like it spongy, not a solid stopping point, and that all the weight sitting on it like that could break something.

Is this normal, should I just chain is up?

You may consider setting it up so the three point is raised to hold up the box. When parked lower it to the ground.:D

I just have a small stack of 2x pieces that serve the purpose of holding the weight of the 3ph ballast when the tractor is parked in the garage. I don't know if it helps the tractor but it sure makes me feel better that I don't have the 400-600lbs hanging on the back for no reason.

What kind of snowblower do you run? I've got a B748 and don't have any weight issues.
