Im changing the transmission oil on my 93 B7100, when I pulled the strainers out to clean them, they had quite a bit of debris on them. Just wondering if this is normal? No big chunks, just lots of small filings. I bought the tractor used and have no idea when tranny oil was last changed. Also the HST creeps, I have cleaned & greased all the linkage, still does it. I was looking under there today & theres a cam on a roller you can see when you lay on your back & look up, it looks like its off the bigger roller but still on the shaft. Is it possible it came off the big roller? Does this make any sense??? thanks

Funny how this works out. Take a look at the HST creeps post recently. If the small bearing you refered to is off the cam it could be a case of worn linkage or the "big cam" bolt fell out. Many times I've seen where the linkage wears into the HST housing itself and will no longer ride on the cam properly. This can be repaired without replacing the HST housing (big bucks) with some creative placement of washers, grinding and cold weld (by permatex). Also on the 7100 if you remove the panel between your legs you should see a spring attached to two jam nuts used to increase spring tension. Sometimes to repair the worn linkage or if the bolt backed off and dropped out you have to split the tractor to gain access to all the linkage. take a good look at it, use Birds picture in the other post (not the same but similiar) And see if you can decypher the exact nature of the problem. If you disconnect the spring and link to #8 in Birds picture, remove the bolt and slotted adjuster you can determine the amount of wear, where #8 rides against the housing. Let me know how it goes and I'll try to help.
As far as the amount of crap you found on the suction screen, as long as there's no big chunks, your probably OK, just an indicator of how many times the previous owner cleaned the screen. Silver/gray metal is ok, any bronze/brass colored shavings is bad news.

This is what I did, I backed off the spring tension & got the cam back on the roller. Then I ran it for awhile & checked it & the cam was starting to walk off the roller again !! I got it all straightened out again & tried to tighten that 12mm bolt on the cam , you no that one thats almost impossible to get at. Its working again now but I think its going to give me more problems! Im gonna check Birds pics now, thanks for the help. Oh ya just small silver/gray pieces on strainer nothing brass, luckily.

Sounds like it's worn into the housing, that's probably why it keeps walking off. Yah, lot's of room to work up in their./w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

kubmech, thanks for the advice, the subframe is not worn at all that I can see. The cam just keeps sliding on the shaft, just enough for it to come off the roller! Where are birds pics anyway? Just cant seem to find em....thanks

See the bolt that holds #9? Did that fall out?
Look at #8. That's the 12mm bolt that's hard to get to, is there alot of slop/side to side play in the #6 bracket?
