Kubota B7100
I've read many posts here at TBN on the specs and prices of the B7100. The prices seem to vary widely depending on wether it's a gear drive or hydrostatic, the Hours and condition. There are even differences of opinion on what hp the B7100 is. I've seen from 13 hp to 18 hp quoted here or in the for sale ads at some very popular tractor sites.

I'm looking to buy a 1985, 16 hp, B7100 gear drive, 4x4, with a F.E.L. lifting 600 lbs, turf tires, inside rear wheel weights, 3 spd pto, with 1500 hrs., that weighs about 1200 lbs for $6000.00 firm.

The seller seems to be very knowledgeable as he owns 20, Yes he says, twenty Kubotas. The tractor, as yet unseen by me, is supposed to be in very good condition and worth the price. The seller and I had a very nice conversation about tractors, MMM vs rear mowers and life in general. He seems to be a no nonsense straight shooter. He defends his price of $6000.00 by saying simply that the tractor is worth $3500.00 and the FEL is worth the same so the asking price is fair.

I've seen cheaper prices but always too far away from New Hampshire to be worth the journey and hassle.

Any input from you all about specs and price would be much appreciated. lets at least agree that the B7100 is 16 hp.

I'd call the price within reason if its in very good condition. They are a great little tractor. You sure wouldn't want to buy one for four grand with the intent of putting a loader on it later.

Paste this into the search box in Google:

b7100 site:craigslist.org

You'll see hundreds of B7100s that are for sale or have been sold in the US.

MLD, keep in mind that the fair market price depends entirely on condition. The condition of a used tractor depends on the level of care (or neglect) of its previous owners. As a result, some tractors that are 20 years old may be in better condition than others that are only 20 months old.

The B7100 is an excellent model, and the asking price does not seem unreasonable. Make sure that the B7100 that you buy comes with all the options that you will need; finding them later may prove to be very expensive or nearly impossible. One potential drawback to consider on the B7100 is the lack of power steering; that might become an important factor if you plan to do a lot of heavy work with the FEL. LP

doesnt seem out of line to me, I have a B7100 HST and love it nice little tractor big enough for what I need yet small enough to mow the yard.

Seems a little high to me. I nearly bought a 1995 B7100 HST w/ 300 hrs, FEL, MMM for $8000 several years ago (2000).

One thing I wonder about is his statement the FEL is worth the same ($3500). An FEL is around $3K new, is this FEL new?

I went and took a look at the tractor. It is in good shape the fell (a 1630) is the same vintage as the tractor and is solid though used some but no real wear to speak of. It has turf tires and they seem big, or a better term is, fat. They seem to have a reasonable amount of tread left. I'm sure they'll be fine if not I'll get chains. Speaking of chains anyone know of the best place to purchase them online or direct I live in central New Hampshire.

The one problem with the tractor is the idiot light. It's missing. I don't know if any of you read the saga of my last B7100 buying attempt Titled " Idiot Light" here on TBN, But it is ironic that this infamous idiot light is the only flaw in the machine. It Looks like it was poked through the hole in the dash and the round fitting to protect it was just gone. We found the wire and plug and later the seller called to tell me it works and he's ordered a new part. The seller seems to be a real straight shooter and honestly hadn't noticed the missing light. He also got right on the phone to the dealer to order the part . The dealer and he seem to be on a first name basis. This I believe as he owns a fleet of kubotas of which I saw three. He rents property and each rental comes with it's own Kubota so as he says there is no excuses for the property's to not have mowed lawns and plowed sidewalks and driveways. An interesting point of view.

Price: We did dicker a little but the best I could do was $5700.00 he's an old yank and knows what he has and time is on his side. plus I'm no poker player so the lust must have shown in my eyes.

On another completely unrelated topic I've notice that some of you posting are from here in New hampshire. Well anyone from this neck of the woods knows about are own Fritz Wetherbee. Well Fritz has a new book out and I illustrated the cover. It's a characature of ole Fritz that I did for NH Magazine and he used it on his new book. After years in the biz this is my first book cover check it out.

This last note was brought to you by the Shameless Self Promotions Department at Driscoll Illustration, and I do not approve this message.

It is pretty easy to temporarily attach an oil pressure gauge to the tractor. Let it get hot and see what the oil pressure is at idle. Minimum should be in the shop manual or available from someone here.
