Kubota B7100HST Diesel 4x4
I have a 1993 B7100 HST. I stopped bushogging to fill up with diesel, when I lowered the throttle down, the radiator began to hiss and smoke. I added at least 1 gallon, cleaned the radiator fins(they were clogged with hay) and started working again. Later when I finished, I checked the fluid, low again. Haven't checked the cap yet, will on Saturday. Any ideas??? How about adding an electric fan to front of radiator to help keep grass and crap out of fins??

Thanks

You might need to provide a little more detail. The front ends of radiators do get clogged. I don't think there's a good solution except for stopping periodically to clean it off. I think the '93 is the same as my '95; i.e., no water pump, no temperature gauge, and no coolant recovery jug. The overflow is supposed to "whistle" or "hiss" if it starts to overheat. So you say it overheated and blew enough coolant out that you added a gallon. But ( Later when I finished, I checked the fluid, low again. ) How much later? And how low? I'm sure you know that the coolant expands as it warms up and contracts as it cools, so with no coolant recovery jug, it's always going to be an inch or two below the top of the radiator after being run and then allowed to cool.

You may need to clean the radiator from the backside. It could look clean from the front but be clogged with dirt/debris that is so deep in the fins you can't see it.

Think a clogged rad on the B7100 may be a common problem. Mine has to be cleaned frequently.

Thanks for the posts so far, to add to it, I did clean the front and backside of rad. When I checked it again after running, it was probably 3 hours, and I had to add another at least a gallon. And yes, it has no water pump or overflow tank. The whistle your talking about, is that from the little metal piece on the frame that the overflow hose is supposed to attch to? If so I guess, I need to fix it, becuase it's not hooked up.

Thanks again

Perhaps also think about a new rad cap?
