Hello All,
If searched the posts out there but couldn't find any solution so here goes...
I have a newly acquired 1983 B7100 HST 4x4 with the old style 60" deck. When I took it out for the inaugural run, the PTO would stay engaged for about 20', then pop out. If I held the lever, I could get it to stay, but that makes steering pretty tough.
It will stay in high speed, but the engine doesn't like that too well, let alone belt and gearbox life.
When trying to engage the PTO it seems hard to find, like there is no detent for the lower speed. It positively locks into the high speed, but no dice on the lower.
I am not averse to splitting her in half, but wanted to ask if anyone has any ideas as to what may be going on or what the repair would entaill before taking that step. BTW, the local dealer that sold her to me in January has no idea other than "bring it in and we'll look at it". At $70 per hour.
Any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Chris
