I too have a
b7100 diesel,
which I purchased new in 1986 with 300 hours on it. They are great little tractors, and now with 1100, hard hours it still runs great. I too have the rear blade, which works fine.I stayed away from the front blade attached to the FEL,due to the following reasons
In the last few years I have had trouble with the FEL bolts, stripping out on the frame. The FEL has been used a lot, but retapping the holes with new bolts ,has fixed the problem. I think the bolts came loose and I did not notice the problem until too late. With the FEL and a blade ,there is too much wieght out there, with no power steering
The only other problem was the steering box.
With the FEL there is way, too much load on the bearings, on this design of steering box. Also, if the tractor is left in the rain, water can leak into the steering box. When this happens the Upper thrust bearings fail, on the steering shaft, and the ball bearing fall into the Rack and pinion and destroy the gears.
Change the Steering Box gear oil often and make sure the little hole drilled into the base of the steering column is clear with no dirt in it.Just cost me 400.00 to rebuild mine, and the steering shaft is hard to get ,as a replacement part.
Good luck with your tractor, with the right maintenance it will give you years of good service. Pacific Pete and the crew
