I recently purchased a b7200 standard transmission 4x4 tractor, the dealer recommended a 5 foot finish mower. I purchased a land pride 2000 5 foot mower , my tractor will mow inshort grass and in 1st gear high range, should this be happening.

From your post, it seems that your mower is working well, but I assume that you mean that your mower will NOT cut well in short grass in Hi range.

I hve a B7100 with a 5 foot Landpride finish mower that works exrememly well.

One thing that you can check if your mower is, in fact, not mowing well, is the PTO shift lever. Make sure that your shift lever is in the "LOW" position instead of the "HIGH" position. Low position is the standard 540 rpm, while the High is about 1000 rpm I think. Your tractor has about the same PTO horsepower as mine if not a little more (13 PTO HP). Yours should turn the mower at least as well as mine.

Something I forgot to mention yesterday is to ensure that your tractor motor is running at the correct RPM with the PTO lever in the correct "LOW" position. I don't recall if the B7200 has a tachometer, but my B7100 doesn't. If you have a tach the correct RPM for a 540 rpm PTO speed may be indicated on the tach. It is probably between 2600 - 2800 rpm.

If it doesn't have a tach, like mine, the max engine rpm at full throttle is about 3,000. So open the throttle all the way, then back off a little. This is about 2,800 rpm.

Just one pointer. When you engage the PTO, set the throttle at about 1/4 throttle, release the clutch slowly until engaged, then increase the throttle setting until the mower is at the correct speed. If the open the throttle first, you will wear the clutch out much faster.

Good Luck with your Landpride. I have really enjoyed mine.

dej: why they even make a tractor without tach. i will never know! but in any case. set throttle to about 1/3 engage pto and slowly let out clutch. when pto is engaged, bring rpm up to full throttle then back off just a bit. this should get u in correct range.
