As I understand it,
(1) the
B7400 and the
B7500 are built on pretty much the same frame, and
(2) the
B7400 is the replacement for the
B7300 which was the replacement for the
B7100.
Notes (information taken from the Kubota sales brochure):
(1) The
B7400 is available in HSD only; the
B7500 is the only "B" series that has a gear drive option. I would stick with the hydro.
(2) HP: The
B7400 is 16hp @ 2900 rpm; the
B7500 is 21hp @ 2600 rpm which means that it should be quieter.
(3) The
B7400 has manual steering compared to the
B7500's power steering.
(4) The
B7400 has a "single pump" hydraulic pump rated at 3.9 gpm; the
B7500 has a "dual pump" hydraulic pump rated at 7.0 gpm.
Personal Opinions / Observations:
(1) From what I have seen the
B7500 is outselling the
B7400 quite a bit, which (in my opinion) means that the
B7500 will also have better resale value.
(2) I believe that either the B7500HSD or the
BX2200 would be a better choice over the
B7400, especially for mowing.
(3) I don't believe that 2wd is an option on any B-series Kubota (at least I didn't see any discussion in the sales brochure), and wouldn't consider 2wd if it were available.
Hope this helps,
Kelvin
