The other day I noticed both my rear wheels (loaded) were lose( 1/2 inch movment side to side). The nut on the bolt which connects the hub to the axle were both lose. I thighten both up but but after cutting the grass several times they were slightly lose. Are the hubs shot? Or the cotter assembly on the bolt needs to be relpaced? Has this happended to anyonr before?

Thanks,
Ray

A friends B7500 was making a noise as it moved, we found the left wheel loose on the axle, tightened it and drove around a bit and retightened. After tightening it the third time, no more trouble. I think it was a common nusiance on that model.

Mine did that too when I owned it. Makes a squeaky noise first.. did you torque them to specs?.. I am not sure what it calls for on them but I bet around 150 ft. lbs. Your really supposed to check wheel stud torque about every 50 hours. I am not sure why on cars we torque to about 75 or 80 lbs and twice that on a tractor, and we are supposed to check the tractor all the time...and I don't know about you but I sure don't check wheel lug nut torque on the car, but I do on the tractor.

Happen a lot. Take the clamps all apart, clean and coat wedges with never seize and assemble. Do not put it on the axle contact surface.

Mine have not loosened since that procedure

There is a wedge in each hub and they might have got deformed while the wheels were loose. You might want to check and buy a couple of new ones before put the thing back together. I know this because it happened to me on one wheel. After that I kept an eye an lots of torque on it and no more problems.

Try torquing the wheel to specs run it a few hundred feet then re-torque it. You are supposed to check them every 50hrs but I check mine more often. Just be glad you were not on the interstate when that happended:laughing:

The 7500 has dual wedges on a common bolt. If they are dirty and dry you cannot get them tight.
