Hello:

I have a 2003 b7500 with 250 hours and noticed oil on my garage floor the other night. I pulled the right front tire off and can trace the leak between the studded hub and where it goes into the axle. Outer oil seal? How easy is this to replace? Do I have to remove the 8 or so bolts to replace? Seems like I would as there would have to be some sort snap ring holding it in place?

Thanks!

Well, I guess sometimes you just need to dig into things yourself and see how it turns out. Here is what I came up as the steps to remove outer oil seal for the B7500, probably fairly universal with other Kubota models as well

Remove 8 bolts from gear case cover and move assembly to workbench
Use a gear puller to pull off bearing ball, this will save you a lot of time, cause it's on their tight!
Lift off gear bevel
Lift off collar set
Take gear puller again and hook onto gear case cover and axle hub spindle to press out the axle shaft assembly.
Remove inner bearing and shim, it just fell out of the gear case case cover for me.
Now you're left with the gear case cover and oil seal, which is pressed in. I took a wood block and hammer to knock it out from the inside.
Cleaned everything up and pressed in new oil seal with some PVC pipe.
Reassemble all the other parts.

couple other quick things, I left out. When you go to put the last bearing back on, the one you had to take a gear puller to get off, I put the axle hub in the freezer to help. I also used a 1-1/2 schedule 40 pvc that work perfectly to press it back on the axle hub.

Never thought about pvc pipe as a press. Thanks for the tip.

I don't have this problem, but the post is a great example of why this forum is so helpful! Thanks for taking the time to write it out!
