Seems like my B7500 has some new admirers. This cow and her new calves stumbled through my yard tonight and must have been attracted to the orange.

HA !
More seat time competition.
Fortunately the parently one doesn't look too interested.
Still, with her standing guard getting the kids out of the seat
might be down right dangerous.

Not to worry, I give plenty of room to this cow. Popular knowledge is that a new Moose mom is more dangerous than a bear around here. I missed the best shot of this little calf going right up to my tractor and checking it out. Unfortunately they romped around my new lawn which I had been working on for the last two months. Oh well I guess the Kubota will be back to work again soon.

Welcome to TBN. Are you in Alaska? If so what part? I know the moose have really gotten thick since I quit hunting them in 1976. Looks like you need a garage to keep that tractor dry.

i think they were attacted by the array of colors, orange tractor, blue tarp, and yellow box blade /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif 2 things u need to do 1) let mamma moose do as she wants 2) get some decent cover for that poor tractor /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif nice picture!!

Yep, I am in Mat-Su Valley about 45 miles from Anchorage. I'm not new to TBN but seem to be deleted from my previous account as Strongbow. I reregistered so I could get back into it. For some reason after posting for months my name got changed from Strongbow to "poster, unregistered". Agree that they are attracted to colors and noises. I had an old Alaskan tell me he used to hunt moose on a small bulldozer. They would walk right up to it and after he shot them the dozer made hauling them off a lot easier. Yes I am properly chided for not having my Bota under shelter. Will have some temporary cover by winter for sure. The uncleared property behind this picture is future home of my barn Lord willing.

You can read all about it in the "News/Feedback" forum. TBN had a hard drive crash and some data was lost so what happened to you happened to quite a few folks unfortunately.

Sorry for the darkness of the picture. It was 10:30 PM (not quite sunset in Alaska in July) and I did not want to use a flash for obvious reasons. You are right in not approaching a cow with calves. A lady in Anchorage got attacked a few weeks ago for doing the same and got away with only a broken arm. Would I get close to Momma without calves, I don't think so. Check out this other picture to get a idea of the scale of these beasts. They are really fun to watch but I don't dare mistake them for a domesticated pet.
