You will see from my recent past posts, I am concerned with the results I get from my ground-contact 60"MMM on my
B7500. It mows nice on flat ground, but I have a bumpy lawn. That is why I may consider the BX Series, or a 54" MMM on by
B7500. The quality of cut is still good, but not a "Hollywood" lawn. As far as speed, I usually cut in low range with the hydrostat pedal to the floor. In bumpier areas, I give it less go pedal. The nice thing about the
B7500 is the tire size as they really absorb the small bumps a BX orsmaller-tired unit would not. Many bumps come out in spring after the winter freeze here, and they are small bumps, but frequently spaced. The large diameter tires on a B Series make the unit bounce less. I really noticed that last week wehn I test drove a
BX2230. I think a suspended deck (54") on a B-Series would produce a better cut than a BX with a 60" suspended due to sheer wheelbase and tire diameter of the B. Finally, you will cut quicker due to the amount of
distance you can cover with the larger tractor. This is due to the larger tires soaking up the bumps a little tired tractor (like a Murray) would not. Weight also plays a role here, too... Less bounce. And finally, a 60" deck over a 36", 42", or a 48" will certainly mean a bunch as it covers more
area . I lost 1-1/2 hours on my lawn going from a 42" garden tractor to the 6" Bota. Hope this helps.
