The B7610 is plugging the air filter with exhaust soot. It plugs as such that I cannot even get it to flow air decent after blowing it out. The soot is too fine. The exhaust is getting sucked through the radiator turning the whole engine compartment black. I looked at adding a small extension to the exhaust pipe but I'm not sure I can add enough to make a difference? Routing it back under the frame and out the back is not real good as I drive through tall grass and other stuff a bit. Any body else have this problem and solve it?

On my B7510 the air filter was completely black with soot at the 50 hour service. The manual says to wash the filter in soap and water which got most of the black soot off it. I bought a spare filter and switch it out, wash the used filter and let it air dry for a few days then it is ready to replace the other one at the next service.

Dealer was shocked when I told him I washed the filter, he thought it was paper and would be destroyed by washing until I showed him the owners manual.

I have seen a picture of one tractor where the owner added a short (6"?) extension to the exhaust and that seemed to get the exhaust far enough away so that it didn't get the frame black.

Suess,

I have not noticed any soot on the air filter, but it was getting on some other parts that I didn't care fore. Here is the thread on the mod that I made. I have put about 70 hrs on the tractor since the mod and I must say it works perfectly.

Good luck.

Thanks, I'll try that. Does the exhost blow against the tire much? I run full throttle full load quite a bit. 20 hrs of that and the filter is plugged. Just passed 220 hrs today. Have you noticed any hesitation to the steering. I partialy loose power steering on a rare occasion usially when the oils hot and it's been running wide open for a while and then slow down to 1/2 throttle or so. The problem can last for a 30 sec or so then goes away. Thanks,

Suess,

If the exhaust is hitting the tire, I haven't noticed it. I don't find soot anywhere since adding the extension.

I have the same intermittent power steering loss you describe. It started at about 100 hrs. I now have about 125. I am hoping it will get worse so it will be easier for the dealer to find the problem. I intend to deal with it this fall between mowing and blowing seasons. With my luck, it will work perfectly when the dealer tries it out.

Have you noticed a steady worsening of the power steering problem, or has it leveled off?

Thanks!

Killer_B,

Sorry for the delay. Yes it's getting worse. A lot worse since I posted last. It bothers consistently with the oil hot and operating in high range. It also bothers in low but not as much. I was thinking it was a oil temperature problem so I borrowed the local mechanic's inferred thermometer and checked the temp of the housing filters and cooler lines. Not the oil directly, but came up with 168F with the problem present. 168F is about normal for my ag tractor hyd systems. The problem only shows up with hot oil. My guess a valve is hanging up when the oil is hot and starving the steering for oil. Next is to see what Kubota says. Also the fuel gage quit last weekend @ 230.5 hrs Stuck on full.

I have about 40 hrs. now and my power steering is hissing with no load.

When around 1600-1800 rpm and not turning the wheel but sitting still the PS sounds like when you cut the wheel hard to one side. This has happened intermitantly and doesn't matter if FEL is full or empty or if I am moving or sitting still. No steering loss though.

Is this one of the symptoms before the steering loss happened to either of you?

Suess,

I never made the connection before, but I think mine might also be worse in hi range.

PLEASE let us know what the dealer says.

Thanks!

Nick
