Waiting on delivery of my new B7800 and need to know if it's OK to use the BH with just the 3 point hitch or should I continue to use the sub frame I have. I'm sure that it's alot easier putting it on and off using the 3 PT hitch? Any thoughts.
The subframe is much stronger and will protect your tractor. The 3 point is likely to stress the tractor if the backhoe is used very heavily. I have a Woods BX 7000 on a subframe.
I've used the Woods hoes with and without a subframe. If your subframe will work, use it. Regardless of the size of the tractor it provides a stronger linkage to the tractor than just the 3PH. Benefits all over the place...
Kubota B7800 with Loader and Backhoe, Cub Cadet 2160
You won't have any problems using the 3pt attachment unless you are digging in REALLY bad stuff. Make sure you have the heavy top link installed and you will be fine. Subframe is better but not always necessary. My 3pt mount does fine and I can't imagine what it would take to torque out the frame with it! Kubota makes 3pt BH for this tractor so it's approved by them, who better to say what will work!
Just a note, I have a B7800 and a Woods BH-70X with the subframe, there is no need to remove the subframe once mounted on the tractor. It is compatable with my Kubota 60" MMM and FEL/ subframe. Matter of fact it is even compatable with the Kubota subframe for my front snow plow blade or front snow thrower. At times I have all three frames on at once and all are compatable with each other. A nice design by Kubota and Woods.
