After much discussion and research I went to my local kubota dealer to buy a backhoe. Thought I narrowed it down to Bh76 or Woods BX70 to BX80. Some had said the 80 was a little much for the 7800 and one of the sales guys agreed. The other said I would have no trouble with the 80. I had decided that was the one for me--they thought the woods a better buy for the money than the BH76--when he pointed out that he had a new woods 7500 which they had been outside and paint faded but brand new with warranty. The BX80 was $6500 installed with 4 point submount frame and he would sell the 7500 for a thousand less. The 7500 is a 71/2 foot reach--in between the 70 and 80. Seemed a perfect compromise to me and so I bought it. My understanding is the specs on the 7500 is pretty much between the 70 and 80 and may be a better fit for my tractor. Doesn't have the curved boom but I can do without for a thousand bucks. The paint is faded but the backhoe has never been mounted and no rust. What do you think? Good/bad decision--I can probably change my mind if I move fast.

There is the catch magicheater, I think the 7500 comes with a full subframe that has to come off each time........ not sure the extra hassle, and storage space would be worth it to me........ but that is just me.

I hear ya, I am in the process of modifying a full subframe that will have to come off each time. Sold a 3PT unit and found this one. I tend to plan more with attachment usage. Convenience is nice but in the end you pay for it one way or another. I am not too inconvenienced when it comes time to change a 3PT attachment. That's life with a tractor. All of us probably have a favorite combo for the tractor. I have mine and I'm sticking to it as it has proved itself through the years.
I thought I was told the 7500 used the same subframe as the newer BX80--anyone know if that is true? I would not want to take subframe off every time I remove backhoe altho don't think I will remove very often. Don't guess it would really matter that much to me but would like option of removing without removing subframe.

Here is where Woods lists the subfame mounts for the various backhoes, and tractors. I didn't see a 4 point mount for your tractor, but I haven't finished my coffee yet either.

Recently bought a b7800 with a woods 7500. I'm brand new to BHs but my engineering sense clearly supports the benefits of a subframe. The jolts and stresses of normal BH use are very high and just a 3 pt mount would worry me. Somewhere I read about a tractor with a just 3 pt BH literally breaking in half. Not sure its true but I can see (and have felt) forces that the subframe counteracts as a lever. It would also appear the subframe types allow more room for pto operated hydraulics. Beleive this allows for slower engine RPMs and greater efficiency. Again just a newbies .02.

I have a B7800 with a Woods 7500 mounted on the sub-frame. The backhoe is a good match for the B7800. I do wish it had more power, digging in the hard soil in my area can be slow with the 7500.
Originaly I had the rear tires on the 7800 filled, I found that the tractor and backhoe was too heavy with the tires filled and drained the tires. I'm much happier with the tires drained.
