I have a 2003 B7800 which has developed a problem. Occasionally the engine just quits running for a second or two. It reacts like you are getting off the seat while the tractor is moving, but this always occurs when I am on the tractor. I am guessing the switch under the seat is not working properly, but before I replace it I was wondering if anyone else had a problem like this before? Thanks for any input. I hate replacing parts that don't need to be replaced.

Have you checked to make sure you aren't moving the PTO handle? If you bump the lever just a little, it can shut the engine off.

Hope this helps.

(Also, if this doesn't help, try cross-posting over into the "Kubota Owning/Operating" forum. More Kubota owners will see it, maybe...)

If he's on the seat and hasn't shifted weight off the seat, then moving the PTO lever should not cause the engine to die.

And I moved this thread from the general owning/operating forum to this forum because more Kubota owners should see it here. However, we do discourage duplicate posts in different forums because inevitably someone will reply to one of them, then later see the other one without his response and want to know what the problem is.

Its got to be the NON position control! Sorry I couldn't resist:)
Theres that safety switch down by the hydro pedal also.

test the switch. on the seat the switch is closed so continuity. off seat open. Any of the safty switches are all like this. this way you can find out which is bad. let us know.

I would check the fuel bowl and see if there may be some water in there. You may be picking up just enough water to make it sputter and then return to normal until you pick up more water.

It is possible that the problem may be as simple as an adjustment on the seat switch. Might try that first as a slight bounce may make the switch lose contact mometarily.

If I slide forward in the seat while using it I can have the same problem. I lean back and it stops so I figured it is the seat switch. With the new seat it rarely does it because I am not always sliding forward.

My B7800 would not start sometimes. Came to the conclusion that it was the seat switch so put dielectric grease on the connections on the switch connections under the seat. Year later it wouldn't start after I stopped for a few minutes. Dropped the bucket which let the tractor move a little and it restarted. Continued this, some times no start and would start. Plugged and unplugged leads on swithes under seat, bounced on seat. No change. Depressed clutch hard/sharply and sometimes would start and sometimes not. Talked to Kubota mechanic and he said probably the switch under go pedal. Rocked pedal and started. I believe any of these 3 switches could be causing your problem. Find switches, squirt the old dielectric grease to them and reconnect (remove any corrosion and clean if present). I have a couple of 90 Allantes and the people in the know promote dielectric grease for all electrical connections on old cars. Seems like it should be used on tractors with their rough and extreme out door lives. I keep some now for my tractors. Had B for 3 years and traded for a L3240HST a few weeks ago. Just traded my BX1500 for a BX2350 60"MMM and I will put the dielectric grease on electrical connections. Auto parts stores is the place to get it.

Yep I agree 100% sounds like one the zillion switches on the machine. Easy test, just temporarily put a jumper across the switches one at a time, drive a while, see which one when jumped stops the problem, fix/replace.
