I just bought this little tractor-don't 'think' it has a float, but sure would be handy with the snowplow I've installed on the front (my fabrication-not the factory unit). I've never used the kubota w/ a float-if I had it would it powered partially in the down position, but when pushing the joystick fully down it is in float position? Does the float position have a detent?

I'm probably at 4 hours on the clock-has anyone had luck w/ a dealer charging the difference and swapping on a new float valve in place of the stock unit? Does anyone know an approximate cost?

You should be able to float the loader. Push your joystick forward, and when it feels like it is all the way, push a little more to get past the detent, then you will be in float.

All Kubota loader valves have float. Yours does too. Sometimes at first you really have to push to get to the float detent. When the lever stops just push a little harder and it will pop into float.

thank you-you are correct. I looked through the manual for the loader and there it was! Just got done using my old Ford 1510 and realized it has a float position-I've used this thing for 5 years w/o realizing this. Only thing is one must really jam the joystick up to lock it into float-nice to have this feature-would have come in handy when I was doing grading years back :)

Think that my float position still allows for down pressure on the snowplow because it scrapes pretty hard. Assume that there is an adjustment that will allow it to float? Anyone with experience in how to adjust it?

I would imagine that is because that loader on that M series weighs a lot. Even in float, the weight of the bucket and loader arms would be pushinf on the ground.

Yes the plow and loader arms are pretty heavy and it comes down on the road with more weight than a plow on a truck hinged at attachment points. Just wondering if it really is floating completely or some hydraulic pressure still is there to push it further. When using the nonfloat position I can lift the front end easily and when I push all the way forward to the detent float position it releases. What other checks can be made? May be a gauge on the line to the FEL cylinder to look for pressure would be a way to know for sure.
