Oil & Fuel B7800 fuel filter stuck in bowl

I guess the filter was doing its job. Isn't that what is for?
Sure ... but evidently it wasn't cost-effective for them, given the number of additional service calls they were having to make.

Long story short, he said it fell into a "fixing a problem that didn't exist" category ...

IOW, he saw a rather large downside (significantly increased service calls) ... with only the possibility of some benefit over the stock filtration ...

I had to do this because my engine kept stalling, and of course it had a completely full tank. So as my B7800 has no stopcock on the fuel line that I can see, I needed another pair of hands to hold back the fuel that was pouring out, like the little Dutch boy with the hole in the dike. What a pain. Wondering if a person can install something like that--it sure would be handy.

Squeezing a rubber fuel line with vise grips will stop the flow. Just be sure not to pinch too tight and damage the line.

I guess it falls into the category of what is acceptable wear. To me it is obvious there is a dirty fuel problem. I run 2 micron filters for a 1000 of hrs before I change. No dirt is desirable but to run 30 micron filters because the problem does not want to be addressed seems like poor economy.

Yup, exactly.

Diesel fuel is inherently dirty ... and where diesel-powered equipment often gets used doesn't help matters ;)

I dunno the micron rating on what they are running ... but the owners know historically what kind of issues they have seen fuel system-wise.

Apparently it wasn't enough to justify using the ne plus ultra in filtration ...

I use Permatex Fast Orange (Smooth) Handcleaner up in the shop (no running water) ... the paper towels I use to wipe it off my hands get used a minimum of 2x ... ;)

I used to do that also, as my shop has no running water. I found that using old towels (the ones with the centers worn out) ripped in 4 pieces and used to wipe the dirt/hand cleaner off work better than towels and last a lot longer. When they walk to the trash can and jump in I get a new towel out.

Oh, and old worn out work socks I put on my hand and use to wipe the zerk fittings when greasing equipment/vehicles. Wear a plastic glove underneath and rotate the sock when one side gets too dirty. Peel it off your hand and throw it away when done. I'm not cheap, I'm just not wasteful.
