Kubota B7610
I recently sold my B7610 Kubota. I loved it but I always felt that it was just a bit small for my needs. So now I'm looking to upgrade to a used B7800 or L2800/L3400.

I did a spreadsheet comparison of the specs and the B7800 seems to meet my needs the best - except that it has that doggone 1/4 inching valve that I hated so much in the B7610.

Any advice on which of these tractors I should shoot for? I mainly use the front bucket for moving material and I have a box scraper and blade. I had a backhoe for the B7610 but I don't think I'll go that route again. When I need a backhoe I'll rent one.

Thanks for any advice that I receive.

I have a B7800 and it does well for me. I would love to have a L3400 but it is just too much tractor for my use. Too heavy to mow my yard with a RFM.

I would rather the 1/4" valve than the jerky 3pt hitch on the L2800/3400, but then again 1/4 valve doesn't bother me much.

I've put quite a few hours on a B7610 then got on my B3200 (same tractor as a B7800), and the difference in size and capability is fairly small really. Granted the tractors are setup differently, B7610 with turf tires and MMM, B3200 with Ag tires and loader, but most tasks I have used them for they seem pretty similar. The B3200 does have more hp which makes it nice for running a 5' bush hog.

Basically the B7800 is a little bigger more capable tractor than what you have, but the difference isn't much. If you really want a larger more capable tractor look for something along the lines of a L3130 or a L3400 if you don't mind the jerky hitch.

It depends the way the tractor is used. If mostly mowing like I use mine for weight is a consideration.

B7610= 1,367 pounds
B7800= 1,741 pounds
L3400= 2,400 pounds

I have always had a tractor with filled tires. The B7800 with filled tires is going to weigh about 2,100 pounds. A L3400 with filled tires is going to weigh about 3,000 pounds. It has been my experience that a 3,000 pound tractor is too heavy for mowing a yard. If the ground is soft the tractor will rut it.

I moved up to a B7800 from a B7510 a while ago. I seriously considered the L2800 in the mix as well. I think the difference in size is quite considerable even from the 7510/7610 to the 7800 and I had to be much more careful in places where the smaller tractor could turn and get by with no problem. I'm glad I didn't step two sizes up as I would have swung into the too big for some of my needs category. My main uses are mow, clear snow, drag firewood with the tractor. The 7800 is a bit too big for mowing (around trees and stuff) and a bit small for pulling out firewood, but does both jobs quite well. So. Short of buying two tractors I find the middle ground that is right for my need and property.
Give some details on the scope of the work you are trying to accomplish.

I got a B7800 after many years using an L4350. Use the B more now cause of the HST and the maneuverability. It also runs my 5.5' tiller better than the big guy does. For brute force their is no comparison, L4350 hands down. Loader capacity seems to be the reason most switch to a bigger tractor. I have a Loader Buddy on both and this only enhances my capabilities.

B3030 and B2630 both are deluxe models and have position control, but cost about $3-4000 more than B3200 with 1/4 inch valving, with Kubota it looks like to get position control you have to buy deluxe model B3030, B2630 or it appears all L models have position control.

the L2800 and L3400 have position control. the 3pt is jerky going up only if you move the control slowly, if you move the control rapidly it only jerks once at the end. Then you can feather it down slowly to get the implement where you want it. But it is position control and will stay where you set it.
