A question for B7800 owners with some history first.

After much looking and almost buying another brand I found a good deal on a Kubota B7800 TLB.

It is an out of state delivery and the dealer has a excellent reputation so that doesn't bother me.

What bothers me is that the local dealer (still almost 75 miles away) will be the only place I can get it serviced if I have big warranty issues. The local dealer price doesn't come close to competing with the out of state dealership plus I'm getting an additional implement in the out of state deal. There is sizable delivery charge but it is still thousands cheaper.

I am pretty mechanical and have most tools needed and a small shop to work in. I don't do welding or cutting or heavy lifting but anything else I can pretty much handle.

So, here is the question for B7800 owners. Would this deter you from buying from an out of state dealer (warranty and service work). I can tell from their attitude that if I don't buy local I won't get very good service from them if needed and will probably get put at the very very bottom of any service list.

I won't be using the TLB for real heavy duty work so it won't get abused. I'm on a hillside that gets a lot of runoff so I have to continually clean some ditches and constant silt and runoff cleanup around my house that get filled during our monsoon and winter rainy season (I'm in the Arizona high country). Hiring out is a pain as most that would do the work have full sized equipment and just ruin more than they clean up. I need the B75A BH for the depth of the ditches so a smaller tractor just won't work. I won't be doing any plowing or mowing or heavy hauling.

From what I've gathered the B7800 is pretty darn reliable.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. My only worry is where I buy it and if I have problems that need to be fixed. You know how some dealers can be. I like to buy local but I just don't have the thousands difference in my budget. The difference is well over 3 and was over 5 higher before the slowdown.

Thanks for any input.

Haven't owned my b7800 about 4 months.Very reliable for me. But most of
tractor owners would agree to that.I would take the better deal. A good dealer should take care of your major repairs or maintenance. After all that
is what keeps there shops open in slow or winter months. I wouldn't worry
about repairs. Good luck Framer

I agree, for a couple hundred I may consider the local dealer, for thousands, I wouldn't loose a wink of sleep over buying from another dealer further away, I would put the money in the bank.

Go for it. Your local dealer should still honor your warranty if not a call to Kubota will straighten them out. I bought my first Kubota from a local dealer and it was not a good experience so buying local dosnt guarantee that your deal is going to be headache free. So when I traded my b7800 in for a L39 and could only afford a used low hour machine Barlow Equip. was the only dealer that had a good selections of L39 at the time(Michigan to Kentucky). Let me say the experience went smoother with them even with a trade and buying a used tractor than buying new from my local dealer. I wont even buy parts from my local dealer.

What Dealer are you thinking of buying from?

I wouldn't worry about the warranty as I have not had an issue with any of the kubota's I have owned or any one in my family has owned other than the occasional safety switch and leaking hose.
I think we have owned about 5 new kubota's, lots of Deere equipment and other new heavy equipment and if you get good equipment you shouldn't need the warranty.
I have bought some discount junk and it seems to never last very 'Long' and the company left me feeling the warranty was not Long enough

Thanks for the replies. Your feelings are mine too, especially with the difference we are talking.

Knowing the problems with the Kubota and especially the B7800 are minimal also makes me feel better about the deal.

My dad had a couple of Kubota's back in the day and they were always a very good tractor. Times have surely changed but I'm glad the Kubota quality and reliability hasn't.

When I bought the 2 BX1500s from Barlow Equip Nov 2008 my local dealer didn't have any BX1500s.
You can't buy what your local dealer don't have.
