B7800 vs L2800HST

   / B7800 vs L2800HST #11
Reading the specs, the two tractors are closer than I realized. If I wasn't going to use the 3PH extensively, did plan on getting a mid mount mower and wanted turf tires, the B7800 would be the best choice.

In your case, the box blade work will benefit from the 3PH with Position Control and the extra weight of the L2800. In addition the R1 Ag tires on the L2800 are quite a bit larger than those used on the B7800. If you go with Ags, this should give you a larger foot print, more traction, a much better ride and, if filled with fluid, a much more effective counterweight for your loader.

One thing you WON'T be paying for on the L2800 is the center PTO....it doesn't have one (still has the rear PTO, though). If you don't need center PTO, why buy it when you could get more weight, ruggedness and larger tires instead? Normally, all the center PTO is used for is the mid mount mower.

Lastly, the 4 cylinder 30HP engine used in the B3030 and the B7800 is not thought to be one of Kubota's smoothest. The larger 4s are pretty smooth as are the smaller 3 cylinder engines. But that particular engine vibrates a little more than the rest....but this is only something I've read here, no direct experience. When I last looked, the L2800 had a 91 c.i. 3 cyl. I will say that my 3 cyl. B7610 is very smooth as is my much larger 4 cyl. L4300.
