Thanks again for the responses to my initial B8200 note. Now I have an interesting situation to look into. This evening when I was blading my driveway I noticed the oil light was flickering at around 1000 RPM. It stayed out at any speed above about 1200, and was more or less steady at a low idle. I was doing the actual blading at 2300 to 2600 rpm, in mid range.

I checked the archives, and I guess my next actions should be to change the oil and filter, maybe using Chevron Delo 400 15w40 (or would ya'll think that's too heavy), and see if a new sending unit makes a difference. Might also try an oil pressure gauge if the dealer has one. I did see one message about a bad sending unit, so maybe that's it. Hope so. Or do these things normally do that? I haven't checked yet, and don't have a manual yet either (dealer says no part number for a B8200 manual), so can anyone tell me where the sender is located?

Thanks again,
Dave

Best bet would definitely be to have it checked with a gauge, if you can. It's probably nothing serious, but with oil pressure it pays to be sure.

I agree with Mark; that's something I'd want to know for sure that it's all right. I just can't believe he didn't tell you to put Amsoil in it./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Of course, the Delo 400 15W-40 is what I use, so if you're wondering whether that's too heavy, that makes me wonder what you have in it now.

I know 15w40 synthetic wouldn't be too heavy for it, but I wouldn't say the same about petroleum. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Just as you did, I also wondered about what oil is currently being used. If it's too thin, it could cause the oil pressure light to come on in hot weather at low engine speeds. But I'd still put a gauge on it...

Dave,

I use Amsoil 3000 5W30 in all of my vehicles all year. My B8200 oil light has never come on once engine started. The manuals for a B8200HST are as follows: Operator's #66301-6291-2 * RC60-82H Deck #70732-7111-1 * Parts #97898-20430 * Workshop #97897-10613 I hope your local dealer can get the manuals that you need with these part numbers.

Good Luck,
Joe

Thanks very much, Joe for the parts numbers; I will take them to the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone else for help, too; I will probably change the oil and filter, and sender unit soon, and will use Delo 15-w40, because I have a couple or five gallons of it.
