Finished a nice little fabrication project this week.

“Bucket Buddy” made from a Harbor Freight 2” receiver mounted with grade 8 bolts and a steel backer plate.

Lift mechanism fabricated from 12 gauge 2” OD square tubing, 3” angle, and 1/2 round stock.

First time doing any metal work in a long time (no judging my welds!). Used a 4” angle grinder with cutoff discs and a 110v FCAW to weld it up. Added some bucket hooks while I had the fabrication gear out. Enjoy!

Excellent video and a great job. Your daughter handles that tractor better than my 40 year old son.

Your daughter looks really happy running your tractor in the video!!!! I like your idea, but wonder why you didn't just weld the metal to the top of your buckets instead of making it removable?

I never considered that. Not a bad idea!

From experience I think it's good to lift from the pipe on the front of most cans -- they are made to handle the load, whereas the socket on the top is just plastic and only intended to help the truck line up when lifting the can. I think that socket will crack over time if handling the load (and let me tell you, those cans full of diapers feel like they are full of lead -- been there, done that).

I considered welding up a bracket, but it's just as easy for me to drive up to the can, roll it into the lowered bucket, and then use a short piece of rope across my chain hooks to keep the can in the bucket while I move it down the driveway.

My neighbors used to think it was amusing when I moved trash cans with my tractor, then I had one of them try to lift the can and he understood. There is a certain stage in the development of an infant when they can produce tons of wet diapers, and you really do need a tractor especially if you have a long gravel driveway!

A backhoe would be the east way to dispose of those diapers.
