I can't help but notice and comment that I am gone for ten days and you have posted 210 times in that ten days and most of the posts are about your Lil' Red hatching six chicks. Also, I have to go with Boondox on this. Half the joy of adding onto my family is creating the place they will spend their time. As babies have come, the house is being remodeled. Would be doing more of that right now but I ran out of rooms to remodel. Anyway, If and when I am ready for chickens, the coop will be built first. Maybe a little Cape Cod salt box. Nothing too ostentatious mind you but it will have curb appeal. Besides, having grown up in California, I still have a hard time believing that animals can spend the night outside even in the bitter cold. I am getting over it but slowly and I do know that chickens DO NOT come in the house unless they have been BBQ'd

Congrats again and let me know how all them eggs Lil' Red are sitting on are doing.

U AND NIXON CAN PROCRASTINATE ALLU WANT.... in the next few weeks i'll build 2 chicken tractor boxes with bicycle wheel for all 6 of these birds and by the time they r ready to run with the herd ..i'll have 16 more that'll b hatchin out from under liddle red and will replenish the chicken tractor boxes iwht 8 a piece!!!..di u guys jist have kids??? or i figure in yer case poppa that u waited till u know how many u wanted and then made the $$ and built the rooms!!! u have and have had a plan and i can tell by yer age that u and yers thought it out to the end and did what u r doin now!!!! and i commend u for that but generally in lif it doesn't happen that way!!! so my hat's off to you but know one thing!!! in one weekend u kin build all of the accomadations 4 15-25 birds to make it thru the winter and i give u my word that my birds went thru the whole winter in that dog crate...with the pink ol sleepin bag on top with 2" of foil faced hard 2" polystyrene foam on top ..on the back... on the sides and on the bottom..and there were days when i let them out after shovlin 2-3' of snow away that they were literally panting because of the heat generated in there...ckns dont give a dadgumn bout stench and to b honest with u there really wasnt any!!theyd come out and frolic and play in the snow ansd then run back in to git their footsies warm agin!!!it was really quite comical seein these guys stand outsid with one foot up under themselves and then watch one run past and knock them over !!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
then they'd all go runnin 4 the door and then afta bout 10 thye'd all come jumpin over each other to git back out!!!!

it was like a racew to see who could git in first and who could git back in first!!!quite a funny thing to see..wish i had a vedeo of it as i'd send it to u but mayb some other time!!!!
