I guess this could have gone in Seat Time or Photos but this section seemed most appropriate. Baby John got to do another favor for a friend today, but a very sad one. Their dog Jack is in the final stages of cancer, still hanging in there but his quality of life is waning and they know his time is very near. Jack is a mastiff = a human-sized grave. The ground is hard & will soon be frozen so BJ & I drove down and dug it for them, one less stress when the time comes.
It was our first time on the pavement - only 5 miles on a state highway through farm & ranch country that sees almost as much SMV traffic as regular - and we covered it at a blinding 10 MPH. Would have been a fun experience except for the circumstance.
