I am going to purhase a back blade this week for my CK30. I think a 7 ft blace would be fine but just wondering if an 8 ft would be too much?

I will also be buying a brush hog later in the winter for spring work. How large can I go with this?

Thanks for the input!

what is the material that you are moving? My gut feeling is you don't want to handcuff yourself by getting a blade that is to big which I think an 8 footer is

I got the King Kutter Professional tiltable BB for my CK30HST a couple months ago, six foot. It works very well, I ditched and crowned and graded my 1/3mi long steep driveway with it.

A seven foot would have been fine.

IMO the 8' is too big beside the maneuverablity issue! Depending on the material you'll be moving you have the potential to reaching the tractors limit alot!

8' is pretty big for that model. One thing you have to consider is that if only one side gets caught while you're moving pretty fast, the stresses on the hitch arms would be greatly increased with a blade that wide. I'd stick to no more than 7'. But that's just me.

I think you would be sorry down the road if you did get the 8' blade.
I don't think that you would be able to turn the blade around while hung on the 3pt.
Some times things are to big. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I would get the 7' and I know you will be more than happy you did.

I would not get any bigger than a 60" single gear box cutter.
Again alot of this is going to depend on what your are cutting.
If you are just cutting fields than look at the Bush Hog SQ84T, that has a dual gear box which reduces the hp that it takes to run a single large gear box cutter, so you will be able to run a larger width with less hp.
It is also off set and that makes it nice if you have a pond or fence you have to get close to.

I say go for the 8' heavy duty blade. That way when you realize it is to big, I can purchase it!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would second the 6' blade. It can get a lot of work done and would fit your tractor well. With an 8' blade you will have all of the previously mentioned issues IMHO.
