Back button not working

I’m using an IPad running Safari and when I hit the back button it locks up. This has been an ongoing issue for me for a few weeks but has been just an occasional problem, maybe a once a day occurrence. Today it happens almost every time. It starts to look like it’s going to go back but then stops. I have to close this website and restart it but then it happens again.
