A friend of mine has just bought a chinese back hoe for his iseki tractor. I dont know the make.
Does anybody else that has a back hoe think that the bucket on theirs doesn't come in close enough to the main boom. It seems to me that the ram is not long enough because if you disconnect the ram you can push the arm in about another 2" at the ram end which makes a big difference at the bucket end. Just wondering if we have the right length ram or if we should source a longer by about 2" ram.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I can't comment on your specific hoe, but I can say from my experience so far (with one I built last summer) that being able to curl out is more important than tight in. If you put on a longer ram, you'd probably reduce the "uncurl".

I'm going to re-work my linkage a bit more to get more rotation (should have stayed with my first plan, which had about 190° rotation!). Attached is a pic showing the current limits I have.

Just something to consider.

I think he's talking of dipperstick. You would have to watch when curling bucket that it doesn't hit boom throughout full arc of travel. My teeth just clear by half inch or so.

Don't think i made myself very clear.
what i mean is that the dipper arm doesn't come back any where near to the main boom arm when the cylinder is fully extended. there is probably a gap of about 2 foot between the bucket and the boom. on the backhoes i have seen before the bucket almost touches the arm when folded in. and this is what i expected on this machine.
Hope this makes more sense.

Guess it was me that was unclear ... sorry about that. Trying to find a cylinder with more stroke, but the same retracted length with likely be hard.

Good luck. Andrew

You could do it, but give up full extension. Boom and dipper wouldn't be on same plane when dipper extended fully. You would probably have to move pin boss on dipper and alter trajecory or something. I'd sell and get an AMERICAN made one. Amerequip makes a lot of the OEMs.
