2006 Kubota L3400
Recently my dad and I purchased a Kubota L3400 to do work on the side with. It came with the FEL and a 5' brush hog and since we bought it we purchased a landscape rake, scraper blade, and post hole digger. We love the machine and it has done anything that we have asked it to do.

Here is the issue, we found someone locally who is selling a 3 point hitch back hoe for a good price and found some intrest in it. When i went to the local dealer to ask about installing rear hydraulics, I got talking to a salesman who nicley explained to me that I dont want the 3 point hitch style setup. So I got on here to find out the pros and cons about the different styles of attaching a BH and found alot of useful information, but I am still a bit confused on how bad it would be for the tractor to mount it with the 3ph. I found alot of people custom made a soild frame for theres, but i use the 3ph for other attachments. Here is the link to pictures of the hoe attachment we looked at, any info would be great.

I don't think that the top link of the L2800/L3400 is strong enough. That's a pretty good backhoe. I'm pretty sure that the backhoe is hooked up to a Cat. 2 three point hitch (Case CX 70 tractor) which would work fine. Heck it *might* work on your tractor IF you don't over do it... but you don't know what that limit is and it's a couple grand if you break the tractor in half.

I've been trying (not too hard) to build a subframe for mine and one thing you'll need is a heavy duty top link bracket (at the very least). I've had a hoe for two years, still trying to find time to build a subframe... :(

I have read a number of failure posts of 3PH back hoes. Not on only Kubotas. I think there is a stronger mounting plate option for the L3400 but I sure would not put one on mine. The hoe can put tremendous force on the top link. If you do it, you'll really want to baby it.

thanks for the input guys i really appreciate it. If there is anyone that could tell me looking at the pictures what kind of hoe this is it would be great to know and if 4500 is a good price. I thought that i saw some people got a real good price on a woods subframe (which is what i want), if anyone has any info on either of these it would be great. Thank you.
