Backhoe attachment on an AG tractor

Does anyone out there happen to have a backhoe attachment on their 60 HP ish John Deere farm tractor?? I have found a good used Kubota 4540A(I would paint it green when I was done) that has onboard hydraulics and I am looking for good ideas on how to build a rugged subframe for it to attach. I have an older(mid 80s ) 2350, 55 HP MFWD AG tractor w/245 FEL and have the use of a full machine shop and am a very good welder/fabricator. I have been running ideas through my head for awhile . I would want to keep the 245 loader frames in place so I can keep the loader on. I would appreciate any pics that you could supply with ideas.

Just make an adapter to hook up to the 3 pt we have a woods 3 pt backhoe that we use all the time very handy little deal. We use a quick hitch on our tractors and hooks up in minutes.

There are 2 pieces to the subframe. One is bolted to the tractor at mid point, the other is bolted to the back at the 3pt hitch area. ( I have to remove all 3 pt parts to mount the backhoe) All the subframe parts are black. But the black tube under the tractor is part of the MFWD and not part of the subframe.


The backhoe has 2 parallel channels that pin to the forward subframe mount.


The rear mount has a notch that a bar on the backhoe slides into.


Here's a pic of the forward mount that shows how the backhoe frame channels slide into the subframe. Note the pin holes on the outside leg are larger than the inside leg. The pin is stepped. There are only 2 pins (and 2 slots) holding the whole thing in place.


I'll get you some thicknesses of the steel - but it's built up from different thicknesses in different places.

The forward subframe is made from 0.5" steel. The rear subframe is a welded assembly of different thicknesses. The 2 that I can get to at the moment are 0.5" and 1.0" - see picture. The channel is 5". If you need more dimensions, let me know, but it may be a couple days before I can get them.

I ran a woods 750 on the back of a Farmall A for two years. It took a rather heavy counter weight to keep the front end down, but it worked well. I'm now running it on a home-made tractor powered by a 3 cylinder Geo engine it still does what it is supposed to.

I have a JD 10 backhoe I am planning on selling since I recently purchased a mini excavator. It is set up for my 5210. I have the subframe and brackets to mount on the 5210. It already has green paint too. I am located in Western Ny. I think your model tractor was one of the models that the backhoe was designed to attach to but not sure. Let me know if you might be interested. I believe you would want something with a sub frame for sure.
