MF 135 IND
Two questions.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Bought an Allis Chalmers backhoe to mount to the back of my MF 135 Industrial with front end loader.

I have a limited knowledge of hydraulic plumbing principals.

Help me figure this out. Front end loader is open center valve body.

Just find a supply and return and hook them up? Or do I return the backhoe valve body right to the hyd tank? Or am I way off?

Question #2

The guy I bought the backhoe from failed to tell me the boom bleeds off so bad you have to hold back on it with the lever 100% of the time.

After making the 4 hour trip to get it he let me in on that little secret.

Where should I start looking to fix that. Hoping the valve body isnt washed but what else could cause it? are there o rings or seals/packings that could go bad?

Thanks for the advice

Trouble shoot the boom cyl and determine if the piston seals are bad.

You can swap hoses on the BH to test the valve.

Yes, find a supply and return the OUT flow to tank.

Look at your FEL valve and see if it has a PB port.

You need a power beyond(PB) valve on the loader valve to run the backhoe or some sort of flow divider. You may be able to convert your valve to a power beyond since backhoes were available from MF. The cause of 95% of cylinders not holding is the internal seals in them. Usually not a big deal to replace. Is your tractor a 2135, 20, 40 or something else? There isn't a 135 industrial model by that name. The industrial's use most of the same powertrain but get different model numbers. If you went for parts, they'd ask the same questions.

I did some research and I kinda understand the power beyond theory, but not sure how to determine if it has a port or not.

I believe it does, there are quite a few plugs on the valve body.

Im on the road working, ill have the girlfriend take some pictures of the valve body for the FEL

As far as I know its a 135 IND but who knows it **** near impossible to find any solid info on these old girls.

The first day I had it I ripped the front hydraulic pump driveshaft out of it when I pulled it out of a mud hole it was stuck in.

Bought a crank pulley flange, drive shaft and keyway for a MF 135 and it fit.

The FEL implement has a MF40 badge on it but the tractor itself SEEMS to be a 135.

Solid front axle, not adjustable, 3cyl perkins. Ill try to figure out how to post a picture of it, as well as the FEL control valve body.

Thanks again for the replies men.

Any advice?

How do I tell if it is a power beyond valve body

A FEL valve with PB will have 7 ports.

The PB port will be labeled PB, PBY, BYD

Is there a hose going to the back feeding the 3pt?

If so, trace it back to the FEL and tell us which port it is attached.

If you have to, you can get a new FEL valve for $250 with float, regen, and PB.

No there are no hoses going to the 3 pt.

FEL is independent as far as hydraulics. It has a front mounted hyd pump.

Could I hook backhoe to the hyd pump for the 3pt? I have never had it opened up not sure if it allows any attachments

Thanks for the help I really appreciate the knowledge
